The English Language and Power

The anthology focuses primarily on the sociolinguistic dimensions of the English language. It deals with the relationship between language and power and more narrowly with the roles and functions of English as a dominant language. The book is the result of a collaborative work developed by prominent scholars in the field of linguistics, applied and historical linguistics, social theory etc. Lastly, its aim is to offer different perspectives “on how linguistically, socially and historically, the English language has supported, constituted and shaped relations of power”.
